“What a spaceport!” Buzz Lightyear remarked on entering Pizza Planet, a family-style establishment frequented by Andy Davis and his beloved pals from Toy Story. In the Toy Story movies, Pizza Planet is a drive-in pizza restaurant with a unique space theme. The logo is shaped like a ringed planet that resembles Saturn and also has a launching site and rocket ship. The interiors are designed like an arcade with electronic games. So, is there a Pizza Planet at Disney World? Can you enjoy a meal at a real-life Toy Story Pizza Planet?
Unfortunately, there is no longer a Pizza Planet at Disney World. There used to be a Toy Story Pizza Planet at Disney’s Hollywood Studios which served… you guessed it… pizza, pizza, and more pizza, besides meatball subs and salads. However, it closed down in 2016.
Why didn’t Disney Imagineers build a Pizza Planet in Toy Story Land at Disney’s Hollywood Studios? What kind of food is available in Toy Story Land? Where can you get good pizza at Disney World? Keep reading to get the answers to all your questions.
Is there a Pizza Planet at Toy Story Land?
There is no Pizza Planet in Toy Story Land at Disney’s Hollywood Studios. In fact, there is no Pizza Planet anywhere in Disney World.
Why didn’t Disney Imagineers build a Toy Story Land Pizza Planet?
Toy Story Land is a themed area that has several attractions, including the popular rides Slinky Dog Dash, Alien Swirling Saucers, and Toy Story Mania. There’s one quick service restaurant located here called Woody’s Lunch Box. Another food location (Roundup Rodeo BBQ) was planned but hasn’t yet materialized. So, why didn’t Disney Imagineers build the iconic Pizza Planet restaurant in an area that is dedicated to Toy Story?
The reason is that Toy Story Land is an immersive experience with larger-than-life structures so that when guests step in, they feel like they have shrunk to the size of toys. If Disney World had built a full-size Pizza Planet in Andy’s backyard, it would have essentially shattered this illusion.
Our guess is this is the reason there’s no Pizza Planet in Toy Story Land.
What food outlets are there in Toy Story Land?
The is only eating joint in Toy Story Land at Disney’s Hollywood Studios called Woody’s Lunch Box. This is a quick service restaurant with counter service. They take mobile orders as well. The cuisine is American and it’s usually open from 9 am to 8 pm. Meal prices are $14.99 and under per adult.
Essentially, they’ve taken Andy’s lunch box and turned it into a backyard walk-up window. On the menu is a frozen POWERade punch in a souvenir sipper, a breakfast bowl (potato barrels with smoked brisket country gravy, scrambled eggs, and green onions), BBQ brisk melt, a smoked turkey sandwich, a grilled three-cheese sandwich, and totchos (potato barrels covered in beef and bean chili and shredded cheese).
