The 31 Characters You’ll Meet at Magic Kingdom

Mickey Mouse and Minnie Mouse on stage

Meeting and interacting with favorite Disney characters are some of the most cherished memories of a Disney World vacation for any family. One of the best places to do this is Magic Kingdom, a park that features the most character interaction opportunities among all the Disney World parks. Magic Kingdom has life-size and super-size versions of some of everyone’s most-loved Disney characters. If you and your kids have favorites, however, you may be wondering – what characters can you meet at Magic Kingdom?

From old classics to the newest sensations, from Disney princesses to Mickey and Friends, when it comes to characters, Magic Kingdom has something for everyone. There are some characters you can only meet at Magic Kingdom, so be sure to tick them off your list if they’re your family’s favorites.

Magic Kingdom is a place to escape from reality into a dream-like world with fantastic characters. But locating all your favorite characters in the park can be overwhelming. Read our comprehensive guide to Magic Kingdom characters, so you don’t miss a single one. Note that while we do our best to keep this guide updated, times and locations can change. The best way to locate characters on the day of your visit is to use the Times Guide or My Disney Experience app. Also, while formal meet-and-greets are fantastic, don’t miss the chance for some informal interactions. Be on the lookout for characters that are just hanging around. Your family could end up having a unique interaction and it could be the best memory from your Disney vacation.

Characters you can only meet at Magic Kingdom

There are some characters you can only meet at Magic Kingdom – they’re at none of the other Disney parks, although some of them are present at character meals and Disney resorts. But if you don’t want to shell out extra dough to meet them, these are the must-meet characters at Magic Kingdom (for free).

  • Aladdin
  • Ariel
  • Cinderella
  • Elena
  • Gaston
  • Lady Tremaine, Drizella, and Anastasia (Cinderella’s wicked stepsisters)
  • Merida
  • Peter Pan
  • Pooh and Friends
  • Rapunzel
  • Tiana
  • The Fairy Godmother

If you’ve got your heart set on meeting these Magic Kingdom exclusive characters, get the Times Guide when you enter the park or check the My Disney Experience app. You’ll be able to see the locations and times to find these characters. Keep in mind that the characters do take periodic breaks (wearing a costume in the Florida heat is no easy task), so be patient if you have to wait a while.

Characters by location

There are dozens of Disney characters throughout Magic Kingdom and it can be a little confusing to find the ones you absolutely don’t want to miss. So, we’ve put together this guide of Magic Kingdom characters by location to make it a little easier for you.

Main Street U.S.A.

You can find characters at three locations on Main Street U.S.A. – Town Square, Town Square Theater, and Town Square Courtyard. This location features some real heavyweights, including Snow White (the only Disney princess outside of Fantasyland).

Main Street U.S.A. is also the favorite hangout spot for Mickey Mouse, Pluto, Chip and Dale, and Tinker Bell. Mickey and Tinker Bell meet-and-greets are available on FastPass+ if you want to save time on these experiences.

Also at Main Street U.S.A. is live entertainment from a four-member a capella ensemble called The Dapper Dans, a famous barbershop quartet that looks nifty and sounds great (they’ve been performing at Disney World since 1971!).

Liberty Square

Are you a family that loves to snuggle up on a Saturday night and re-watch Mary Poppins for the hundredth time? Then don’t miss the chance to meet this beloved children’s character at the Liberty Square gazebo. Also at Liberty Square is a cast of characters from The Muppets, including Miss Piggy, Kermit the Frog, Great Gonzo, and Fozzie Bear. For fun enactments and interactions, watch the show – The Muppets Present Great Moments in American History – where these characters are regulars.

Adventureland

If you go behind the Magic Carpets of Aladdin attraction, you’re likely to run into Aladdin and Jasmine. Head over to the Pirates of the Caribbean courtyard if you don’t want to miss Captain Jack Sparrow.

Frontierland

There are no formal meet-and-greets here, but you can catch a glimpse of Brer Rabbit, Brer Fox, Brer Bear, Big Al, and Clarabelle. Note that these characters are in the Hoedown Happening dance and do not pose for photos. If you want to interact with these characters, you may need to get tickets to special events like Mickey’s Not So Scary Halloween Party or Mickey’s Very Merry Christmas Party. Chip & Dale also hang out near Splash Mountain in Frontierland.

Tomorrowland

The most famous Space Ranger in the world, Buzz Lightyear, meets guests in the exit courtyard of his attraction. Also, keep your eyes peeled for Stitch who has sometimes been spotted in Tomorrowland.

Fantasyland

If Disney princesses bring a smile to your kids’ faces, the Princess Fairytale Hall in Fantasyland is the place to be. This character greeting spot features all-time favorites like Rapunzel, Elena of Avalor, Tiana, and Cinderella. The experience is available on FastPass+ so you can pre-schedule your visit to save time. You can meet Ariel at her grotto and Belle at the Enchanted Tales with Belle attraction. Princess Merida from the Disney Pixar film Brave has a meet and greet at the Fairytale Garden located next to the Cinderella Castle.

Character dining at Magic Kingdom

What could be better than meeting your favorite Disney characters at Magic Kingdom? We’d say tucking into some yummy food while your family interacts with fun characters is right on top of the list.

Magic Kingdom offers character dining at two locations – Cinderella’s Royal Table that is visited by several Disney princesses and The Crystal Palace where you can meet Winnie the Pooh, Tigger, Piglet, and Eeyore.

Cinderella’s Royal Table is Disney World’s most expensive character dining experience and a meal here costs upwards of $60 plus tax for adults. But you get a lot of bang for your buck. First, the location. You’re right inside the Cinderella Castle, in a fancy banquet hall that is accessible through a spiral staircase. Second, the incredible views of Fantasyland are nothing if not magical. Third, the meal includes a show and souvenirs (a wishing star and a sword or magic wand). Last but not least, there’s heaps of Disney magic in the air with several princesses interacting with guests, including Cinderella herself.

The Crystal Palace is located on Main Street U.S.A. in Magic Kingdom. They serve breakfast, lunch, and dinner, which is typical American fare. But the food is not the reason you should visit. The real stars are the characters. If your family loves the Hundred Acre Wood, this is the only dining spot where you can meet Winnie and Friends.

The bottom line on meeting characters at Magic Kingdom

If meeting characters is at the top of your list of things to do on your Disney vacation, Magic Kingdom is the best place to do it. It features some of the most loved Disney characters of all time. You can meet them at formal meet-and-greets, informally throughout the park, and at character meals. Most character meetings are free, but if you want to enjoy a meal, then you have to pay, of course. If the Disney princesses or Mickey Mouse are absolutely unmissable for your family, then FastPass+ reservations can make the experience stress-free for everyone.

We’ve tried to give you the lowdown on all the Magic Kingdom characters with this guide and we hope you’ll find it useful on your next visit to Disney World. Keep in mind that locations and times can change. It’s best to double-check on the day of your visit with the Times Guide at the park or in the My Disney Experience app.
