Welcome, bright witches and cunning wizards, we solemnly hope you are up to no good! The Weasleys are a big reason why I love the magical world of Harry Potter, and the Weasley Twins have always been there to diffuse the tension with rib-tickling humor and witty comments.
The Weasleys Wizard Wheezes at Universal Orlando is one of the most visited shops, and beloved by magical and non-magical beings alike. From the hilariously named, you-no-poo candies addressing the constipation sensation that’s gripping the nation, to skiving snack boxes that purposefully make you ill to skip a dull lesson.
Weasleys Wizard Wheezes is the brainchild of the amusing and mischievous Weasley twins – Fred and George. Financed with Harry’s Triwizard championship’s prize, Fred and George’s joke shop kicked off in Diagon Alley after they dropped out of Hogwarts following Umbridge’s cruel reign. It was inspired by Zonko’s Joke Shop and had a variety of sweet treats, comical potions, and games. Universal Orlando brings you a real-life version of this treasured shop and gives you the chance to explore and purchase the stuff of your dreams at the Weasleys Wizard Wheezes.
Where Can I Find Weasleys Wizard Wheezes?
Weasleys Wizard Wheezes is hard to miss it’s on the right as you enter Diagon Alley in Universal Studios. You can spot the 20 foot tall robotic Weasley twin with a playful grin, lifting his hat to reveal a rabbit under it, along with a bold, colorful exterior that sets it apart from the other shops around. The décor and lively theming of the shop stay true to its depiction in the books, where it’s described like a firework display hitting your eyes. It is located in Diagon Alley, which is a part of the Universal Studios Florida. You can also find tasteful graffiti and art at the back of the building and a very fitting sign that reads ‘Mayhem This Way.’ As if we weren’t preparing for it our whole lives!
Once you are in the shop, pay special attention to the detail that mimics the books and movies. For instance, you can spot fireworks exploding on the ceilings, Umbridge riding the unicycle and a staircase leading up to more floors with props from the movies.
What Does Weasleys Wizard Wheezes Have Inside?
There are rows upon rows filled with candies having the funniest names and descriptions, along with bottles of potions and other fun products that are mentioned in the books. It’s hard to pick favorites when everything reminds you of the magical Harry Potter universe, but here are a few of the best:
- Candies
- Screaming Yo-Yo
- Extendable Ear
- Pygmy Puffs
- Cycling Dolores Umbridge
- Decoy Detonator
- Chattering Teeth
- Boxing Telescope
Candies
If you don’t come out of the Weasleys Wizard Wheezes with a pocket full of sweets, the Harry Potter fandom will disown you. Plus, you will need all those fun packaging and jars as a keepsake, seriously, nobody throws them away.
Screaming Yo-Yo
This is a fun little magical toy, and yes, it will get on your last nerve after a while, since it shrieks as you play with it.
Extendable Ear
This listening device magnifies nearby sounds. Also, you can put it over your ears and pretend you are an elf. In any case, keep it away from furry ginger cats.
Pygmy Puffs
Purple and orange pygmy puffs are the most adorable plush toys in the shop. You can get the big plushy toy or a miniature version on a keychain.
Cycling Dolores Umbridge
Watch Umbridge balancing weights on a unicycle all day long! Could it get any better than this?
Decoy Detonator
Create a diversion or keep your pets busy chasing after this fun little toy.
Chattering Teeth
The set of teeth will go on for a long time once you wind it up, and it will make you laugh every single time!
Boxing Telescope
The boxing telescope goes hand in hand with the bruise removal paste. One gives you a bruise and the other removes it.
Best Weasley Shop Wizard Candy
Here are some of our most favorite candies at the Weasleys Wizard Wheezes.
Puking Pastilles
These are amusingly portrayed at the display window of the shop with a girl violently throwing up into a cauldron. Don’t worry muggles; it won’t have the same effect on you. They are basically hardboiled sweets with excellent packaging!
U-No-Poo
Come on, this deserves a top spot in the list, you know it. These are little green treats with hard shells and chocolate pieces inside. Try them; they taste great and who knows, they might help with constipation as well.
Love Potion
These are rose-flavored liquid syrups that you can put in your tea and other beverages. They’ll make you fall in love with high priced candies, that’s for sure.
Fever Fudge
Bite into delicious and moist vanilla fudge with tasty cinnamon jelly beans, these are one of our top favorite candies.
Fainting Fancies
Fruit gummies never tasted so good! They are lemon and orange flavored and keep you well oriented at all times.
Nosebleed Nougat
These are tiny sweet treats made from milk chocolate, white topping and pistachios. Suitable for the nose, and the tongue.
What’s in a Skiving Snackbox?
Skiving Snackboxes include the Puking Pastilles, Fainting Fancies, Nosebleed Nougat, and Fever Fudge, all in one box, and I promise that they won’t make you sick unless you try to eat them all at once. Fred and George Weasley ingeniously invented these candies to help out other students in breaking laws and sneaking out of the classes by temporarily making them sick, and they tested it on a lot of poor innocent souls – including Dudley Dursley’s tongue.
The candies are color-coded, for instance, biting into the orange part of the nosebleed nougat will cause a nosebleed, and the purple end would stop the bleeding. This is the same with all four candies, which adds an element of fun when you eat them and remind you of all the wonderful things you read in the books.
Buying the Skiving Snackbox gives you all four famous candies at a lower price as compared to buying them separately. The packaging is designed exactly as shown in Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince. In each box, there are four fainting fancies, four puking pastilles, three nosebleed nougats, and two fever fudges.
Tip: The candies may contain wheat, milk, soy, eggs and tree nuts, so steer clear of them in case of allergies, or else you’ll experience a fever fudge for real!
Other Stores along Diagon Alley at Universal
Diagon Alley is built exactly like the books and movies. The entrance has a brick wall that’s parted to reveal a massive gap from where you can enter the magical world. Besides Weasley’s Wizard Wheezes, there are a number of shops lined up to explore. These include Madam Malkin’s Robes for All Occasions where you can buy Harry Potter including uniforms and formal wear, Magical Menagerie filled with plush animals, Scribbulus to fill up on quills and notebooks, and Quality Quidditch Supplies for those shiny broomsticks. You can also buy your very own wand at Ollivander’s or Greogorovitch’s wand shop, cash in some galleons at Gringotts, and get unique and magical merchandise at the Wiseacre’s Wizarding Equipment.
